Airbnb - Flight Feature
As a side project, I decided to challenge myself to create a new feature that allows Airbnb users to plan a trip and book a flight that syncs with their itinerary. The reason for doing this is because Airbnb has been trying to expand their service beyond room booking and become the premier destination for travel and exploration.
I gave myself a one-week time limit where I had to do research, create a user flow diagram, high fidelity mock-up and an interactive prototype.

Business Problem
With Airbnb’s immense valuation, there has always been the question of how can Airbnb expand their service beyond room booking and become the premier destination for travel and exploration? According to Chip Conley, Airbnb’s Strategic advisor, the company’s “goal is to become the super brand of travel … and [they] want to help people not just with accommodations.” - Skift
Proposed Solution
With such a crowded market, I did research on other competitors such as Passes and Belly. This is very important because in order to differentiate and to create a good experience, I had to understand how the Stamplus application will flow. By building the IA, it allowed me to view the entire scope of the application with the rest of the team and were able to use it to discuss and iterate upon.

Style Guide
Before moving on with the creation of our application, we went through the process of creating a set style that unifies the whole experience.
Design
This application is for those who want to quickly find activities to do in the moment.
Once the application opens, the user is able to filter what type of activities to do in the moment.
To further assist the user, Fillip's playful voice and tone makes the suggestions feel more real.
Users are given a simple interface showing enough information to make a quick decision. The more a user uses the application, the more it can learn what the user likes to do.
Categorizing activities with different colors, users are able to easily navigate through the subtle differentiation.
To have a more enjoyable experience when deciding with friends, users are able to collaborate with them to make the final decision.
With a selected activity in place, users can send out invitations to those who were not involved in the selection process.
Takeaway
Sometime making decisions by yourself is hard, so Fillip helps users connect with friends to make decisions together. During this project, the team and I struggled with various ideas and features that we wanted to implement and trying to fit everything into the application. We wanted to take into consideration of every edge cases, such as making it more fun for the user by making it game like, but we noticed that it was unnecessary. With more time, I believe the interaction design and user experience could become more polished.
